As Athletics moves closer to a return date for on-campus conditioning activities—tentatively scheduled for Monday, July 20 for both Football and Cheerleading—we continue to closely follow the ever-changing guidelines and expectations from both the State of California and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), the state’s governing body for high school sports.
On Monday, July 20, CIF will provide an official update regarding the status for fall sports programs; this information will determine how we proceed moving forward. It will take great flexibility on the part of our coaches, trainers, and student-athletes to ensure we are following all health and safety protocols when we are able to return to in-person workouts and practices.
All current members of the Parker Football and Cheer programs are completing their daily health screening through the emocha app in anticipation for their return to Campus. No student-athletes will be allowed on Campus unless they complete their minimum 14-day screening.
Magnus Health Athletic Information
Copies of all athletic health forms, including the pre-participation physical form, are now available on Magnus Health. Parker Athletics will use Magnus moving forward to safely and securely store all health records. Parker Athletic Trainer Niki Dehner and Nurse Maggie West will be the only two individuals with access to the records.
Magnus will also be used to document and report incidents, injuries, and illnesses to parents, who will receive an email notification when there is new communication regarding your student-athlete(s).
For instructions on how to log-in and access the health forms on Magnus, click here.
NEW - Pre-participation Sports Physicals
ONLY Upper School athletes are required to complete the Athletics health forms. Middle School students enrolling in a sport SHOULD NOT select this in the Conditional Questions upon login. (It can be changed at any time if you already have).
The physical must be completed on the Parker form. If you use the doctor’s form, you will also need to complete our form and submit both due to having permission to treat on our form.
To download the form, log into Magnus, go to the preparticipation physical form section. The form is two pages–please print both. Fill out the student profile information, including all sports you are considering, even if it is not definite.
Have your doctor fill in the remaining information and sign.
A parent/guardian must also sign the form.
Upload the completed two-page form to Magnus under the same section.
Athletics WILL NOT collect any hard copies this year. Please save for your records.
Note: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, CIF has extended all physicals from the 2019-20 school year until December 31, 2020. Those exempt from this status include new Parker students, incoming Grade 9 students, or any individual that has a preexisting condition that could be complicated by the novel coronavirus.
Parker Athletics is recommending that all students receive a new physical prior to the start of the 2020-21 school year; however, if you meet the terms of the CIF extension, you will be prompted via Magnus in December to complete a new physical. For more information or questions, please contact Niki Dehner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are facing an ever changing landscape that has presented us with unclear guidelines and expectations having to do with conditioning activities for high school athletic programs. While I have been very pleased by the response by our football and cheer teams on their commitment to their personal screening on emocha, we are waiting for further guidelines from the State and the CIF announcement on July 20th before moving forward. Receiving that information will determine what we actually do on July 20th. I want to prepare us all for the flexibility that will be required to return to campus. For now, please keep doing the emocha scanning!
New Magnus Athletic Information
All Athletic forms are now located in Magnus, including the Preparticipation Physical Form. There is communication about how to log into magnus here. (insert link to Lori’s how to).
Magnus will be our new Electronic Medical Record keeping software moving forward for Parker. Only our Athletic Trainer, Niki Dehner and Nurse Maggie will be using it. When there are incidents, illnesses, injuries or any communication to parents about your student/athlete you will need to access Magnus to view the information. You will be notified via email to log in when needed.
A few important reminders for Physicals, as this is new information.
ONLY Upper School athletes need to complete the Athletic forms. MS is not required. If you are in MS but doing athletics for PE, you DO NOT select this in the Conditional Questions upon login. (It can be changed at any time if you already have).
The physical must be completed on our Parker form. If you use the doctors form, you will also need to complete our form and submit both due to having permission to treat on our form.
The Preparticipation Physical is 2 pages. Make sure you print both.
To download it, log in to Magnus, go to the Preparticipation Physical form section. Print it, complete most of it and take it to the doctor to complete and sign. You must also sign this form for completion.
When completed, return to the same section in Magnus and upload your 2 page form there.
Please make sure you complete the SPORT section, with all sports, even if it is not definite.
Niki is not collecting any hard copies this year. Please save for your records.
This year due to COVID-19, and per CIF, the physicals from the 19-20 school year will stand until 12/31/20 unless you are a new student, incoming freshman or have a preexisting condition that could be known to be complicated by COVID-19. If you have any questions please reach out to Niki for more information. We prefer you get a new one every summer, but if you are having trouble, this exception has been made for now. If you do not enter a new physical form this fall, you will be reminded in December via Magnus.
