Parker Athletics is committed to a safe return to physical activity and athletic competition. Our first priority and guiding principle is to maintain the safety and well-being of our student-athletes and coaches. In conjunction with the Return to Campus Task Force, and following the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Guidelines for Return to Physical Activity/Training, Athletics has targeted July 13 as a soft opening for on-Campus summer athletic activity. The organization and logistical structure of training will address concerns for social distancing, screening, proper cleaning of equipment, and safe acclimatization for returning to activity after the extended period of inactivity to reduce injury.
The soft opening would include small-group workouts of no more than 10 students per pod. All athletes will only be allowed on Campus for a max of 90 minutes and must be registered and utilizing the emocha Health Screening app for 14 days prior to being allowed on Campus. Outdoor spaces will be utilized as much as possible and athletes must complete a mandatory re-education/socialization program prior to using the weight room. All health and safety guidelines outlined by the CIF and state and local health departments will be strictly followed at all times.
Coaches will begin to reach out to parents and student-athletes regarding the option of participating in the soft launch of on-campus workouts, including more information on workout dates and times as well as requirements to begin using the emocha health screening app 14 days prior to returning to campus. Should families have additional questions regarding the soft launch, contact Athletic Director Anthony Thomas by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Regarding the fall season, the CIF clarified, in a statement released earlier this week, that they will update schools by July 20 if Fall Sports will continue as currently scheduled. Should ongoing public health and safety concerns present themselves, the organization is prepared to offer alternative calendars for the athletic programs.
To minimize the number of people on Campus and to prioritize the facilities for Parker Athletics, the School will not rent out facility space to outside vendors and organizations this summer.
